The situation
Scenario. A hardening review of target is overdue. Attackers who gain a normal shell look for a quick path to root through misconfigured permissions. You will find those paths the way they would, document them, and close them.
What you will do
- Find SUID binaries on the target
- Spot the dangerous one
- Review the sudo rules
- Why is a world-writable SUID-root file critical?question
- Fix both misconfigurations on the target
How it works
